ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Aviram Turgeman

Aviram Turgeman, founder, is a forward thinking restaurateur, Sommelier par excellence & master mixologist with over 20 years of experience, most of which is in the culinary capital of the world, New York City.

 

His skills encompass focus on beverages in all aspects: wine, beer, cocktails, as well as coffee and tea, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Over the years he mastered multiple, unique, cutting-chase and innovative beverage programs in various restaurants, bars, coffee shops, pop-up settings and many more.

 

Aviram started his way curating fresh ingredient cocktails. Behind the bar at the famous Flatiron Lounge, he acquired skills for running a craft-cocktail program. 

 

He pursued wine education by graduating from the American Sommelier Association, where he also used to teach, and eventually achieved the WSET diploma with the internationally recognized “Wines & Spirits Education Trust.”

 

In 2006 he opened Cafe d'Alsace as the first “Beer Sommelier” in New York City.

Shortly after, he took over Nice Matin and in 2014 achieved the highly regarded “Grand Award of Excellence” by Wine Spectator Magazine, which recognizes the world’s most outstanding wine programs. 

Aviram also created and oversees several “Best Award of Excellence” wine programs in various restaurants in New York City.

 

Coffee & tea are also a passion, and Aviram produces a high quality range of espresso beverages, cold brewed coffee as well as organic tea. 

 

In his free time Aviram likes cooking, drinking Champagne and watching European Soccer.
